As part of our latest update, we are excited to announce that VideoRequest has added ChatGPT technology to our platform! While this technology will provide useful information, we want to ensure our users fully understand what it is and how to use it.
What is ChatGPT?
According to Business Insider, ChatGPT, created by OpenAI, is a chat bot that is “powered by large amounts of data and computing techniques to make predictions to string words together in a meaningful way.” ChatGPT goes beyond chat bots we are familiar with as it can understand words in context and uses an extensive vocabulary. With this combination, ChatGPT can mimic speech patterns while sharing its vast knowledge.
The New York Times states, “ChatGPT generates responses with startlingly natural language,” and puts ChatGPT into greater context, comparing it to the predictive text system on our phones by using its knowledge and context to complete sentences.
Basically, ChatGPT is an incredibly powerful and intuitive chat bot. People have asked ChatGPT to write business proposals, code software programs, and even write their wedding vows. However, it is important to note that ChatGPT can’t check if something it says is true or not and does not provide sources.
With that in mind, it’s important to use ChatGPT to improve your work, not as a work replacement. Because ChatGPT can’t fact check itself, you should also always review the information it provides and not treat it as fact. ChatGPT can pull information from faulty sources without knowing it, so take what it says with a grain of salt. If you use ChatGPT to assist your work, disclose that it was used.
Here are a few ways we suggest using ChatGPT in combination with VideoRequest.
- Let ChatGPT help you write a video script. Tell the program what kind of video you are making and how long of a script you are looking for. As mentioned above, treat the result from ChatGPT as a clunky first draft to improve upon. If ChatGPT included any facts, look them up to confirm that they are correct.
- Review a video script. Ask ChatGPT to review a script you wrote to see if it can make any improvements.
- Share your video. Ask ChatGPT to write an email to your audience that includes a video link or to write a social post that includes a link to your video.
There are many ways you can incorporate ChatGPT technology into your video creation process, but it’s important to treat it as a tool and to double check all information. Feel free to contact us if you have questions about using ChatGPT in VideoRequest.
